Manningham All Stars 4 Silsden White Star 4 (after extra time – Silsden won 5-4 on penalties)

Silsden White Star won the battle of the underdogs to claim a spot in the Keighley Challenge Cup final for the first time.

With the draw pitting some of the district’s bigger clubs together, this semi-final was a chance for two smaller clubs to make a name for themselves.

And it was Craven League Division One side Whitestar who clinched the opportunity – though it could not have been closer.

Silsden had to come back from two goals down despite taking an early lead against the newly-formed Marley-based side, who play three divisions lower.

They trailed 3-1 at half-time but fought back to 3-3 after 90 minutes. Both teams scored in extra time before Whitestar scraped through with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out success.

Benny McClennon struck twice for Silsden, with Danny Cox and Dom Creed also on target.

Creed, James Whitehead, Cox, man of the match Martin Coleman and Jamie Cunningham converted the spot kicks.
