Ibrahim Nadim has high hopes
Ibrahim Nadim is poised to emulate his cousins after reaching a national schoolboy boxing final.
The 13-year-old from Keighley beat Kieran Solon by a unanimous points verdict in the semi-final of the class two 34kg category at Havercroft Sports Centre near Wakefield.
And now the Bury Amateur Boxing Club member is hoping to repeat the achievements of cousins Muhammad Ali and Danish Muhammad, who both claimed national titles last year.
Ibrahim, a pupil at Bingley Grammar School, will box James Bowers of Bracknell-based Pinewood Starr ABC on Saturday, March 2, at Everton Park Leisure Centre in Liverpool.
His trainer Mick Jelley believes he has every chance after an impressive display against his opponent from Telford & Wrekin in the semi-final.
Jelley said: “He boxed brilliantly. He kept on the back foot in the first round as we knew he would come forward but Ibrahim won every round.
“He trains really hard and a national title would be a big honour.”
