Oakworth’s Tom Moses is pictured leading a packed field of around 400 riders past Kilnsey Crag during the Otley Reliability Race last weekend on roads which will make up the start of the Tour de France next year.

The new Team Raleigh racer was joined by fellow Keighley professional cyclist Tom Barras and a host of other star names including Alastair and Jonny Brownlee, Yorkshire champion Pete Williams, Otley Cycle Race winner Scott Thwaites and Nathan Edmondson.

But the 100-mile ride-out, based on the first stage of the 2014 Tour and taking in the Wharfe Valley through to Kettlewell and back to Otley, was also a chance for local cyclists to try the route themselves.

The main bunch of around 200 stayed intact until after Bolton Abbey where the combination of lumpy Yorkshire Dales roads and top riders lifting the pace reduced its numbers to a select group of seven by the finish.

Moses tweeted: “Olympic champ, World champ, Yorkshire champ... Not a bad group of lads left at finish.”
