Harden notched their first win since gaining promotion to Aire-Wharfe League Division One as a six-wicket victory ended second-placed Steeton’s three-match winning run.

Chris Baines (70) shared a stand of 59 with Andrew Luxton (20) but the rest of the Steeton line-up toiled after being asked to bat.

Just 27 runs had been posted before Baines and Luxton joined forces for the fourth wicket but they were the only batsmen to reach double figures before Baines was last man out with the total on 129.

Richard Wear (4-34) and Roshan Livera (3-28) were the key bowlers for Harden – and Wear then showed his proficiency with the bat too.

He hit an unbeaten 47 as, together with James Roper (29), the six points were secured that leave Harden still bottom of the table but now in close touch with the sides above them.

Burley took advantage of Steeton’s defeat, their 75-run win over Ben Rhydding enabling them to take over in second spot behind leaders Beckwithshaw.

Harden II were always up against it as they fielded just ten men against Steeton II and lost by five wickets after compiling a below-par 136 all out.

Adam Harwick led the Steeton bowling with 4-38 and his brother Paul finished with 3-27, while skipper Gary Boulton (2-34) took the other wickets.

Steeton cruised to 81 in reply before losing their first wicket when Lee Jackson was caught behind for 28.

In-form opening partner Mick Wilson went on to score an impressive 80 but, with victory in sight, several wickets fell to create a few jitters.

It needed the level head of Hayden Tennant (14no) to halt the slide as Steeton edged to their first six-point haul of the season.

Silsden collapsed from 91-4 to 115 all out in Division Three, leaving Illingworth to ease to an eight-wicket win.

Chris Barrett was dismissed for a duck but his fellow opener Simon Cox posted 27 and, together with Nathan Bradbury (27), looked set to help post a challenging target.

But skipper Cox’s dismissal as fourth man down proved pivotal and only Phil Binner (10) among the lower order managed to reach double figures as J Moorhouse and M Battle picked up four wickets apiece.

David Wynn picked up two early wickets in the Illingworth reply but that was as good as it got for Silsden as V Brooksby hit a breezy 63 not out off 41 balls.

A Pullen cracked a superb 125 for Silsden II as they totalled 238-9 against Illing-worth II, with opener H Sugden (25) the only other batsman to make much headway as T Watson picked up 4-60.

But Silsden had to settle for four points as their opponents collected two after finishing on 187-8. K Lawrence claimed 4-42 but M Dawson held the reply together with 52.
