Keighley Town 18 Queensbury 32 Keighley Town suffered defeat at the hands of Queensbury with a below par performance.

They started poorly and gave Queensbury an early lead. It took a great individual solo try from young Dave O'Conner to get Town on the board. Neil Kennedy converted.

The try did little to spur the home side on. It was Queensbury who played the better rugby and scored more points to take a good lead into the half-time interval.

Town improved in the second half. Man-of-the-Match Chris Ellison ran hard and tried to lift the Town pack, he was supported by the ever willing Quinton Sneyd.

Town had the majority of the play in the second half and created plenty of chances to get back into the game.

Full back Tom Kenna collected a great chip from Darren Lynham to send supporting half back Kennedy in for a try. Kennedy converted his own try.

And winger Gavin Jones continued his try scoring form with a try in the corner after his centre showed his great passing skills to put the winger in for a good try.

This Saturday, Town play Elland at Marley. Kick-off is at 2pm.

Woodhouse 34 Keighley Town A 17 What a difference a week makes. After a great performance against Thornton the week before Town went into this game with high hopes of a victory, but work commitments meant they travelled light.

Keighley started off great taking the game to Woodhouse and Dean Melvin broke the defensive line and went rampaging up the field with just the full back to beat but a great tackle brought him down close to the line. Gillard took them on from close range but couldn't break through. Jason Benn also pounded the line looking for the gaps.

After that, Town were on the back foot and went behind to two good trys. Then they picked up a couple of injuries and were restricted to a Danny Spencer 30-yard field goal.

This seemed to spur Town on and they piled the pressure on Woodhouse. Norton made good yards as did Jason Dovestone which lead to a good try from Spencer. Parker added the extras. Town then fell asleep and let Woodhouse take control of the game.

The second half was more of the same and Woodhouse extended their lead.

But as Keighlely went down to 11 players on the field, they began to step up there game and put Woodhouse on the back foot. Steve Narey led by example and Town got a well worked try when Benn crashed over.

After that, it was nearly all Town and once again they scored. This time it was Norton who crossed the line and Parker added the extras.

Melvin was Town's Man-of-the-Match. This Saturday, Town are away to Halifax Irish. Kick-off is at 2pm.
