Steeton beat Follifoot by six wickets in Division One to ease their relegation fears.

They cruised past the visitors’ total of 220 all out, making 223-4 in 45 overs.

Follifoot looked capable of scoring 250-plus runs but fine late spells by Jon Best (6-59) and Stephen Pearson (3-52) saw them well short of that.

Steeton’s batting on a good pitch was excellent as John Akrigg top-scored with an unbeaten 57.

Australian Ben Hillard got them off to a great start with 42 and, when an injection of runs was required, Mark Taylor scored a quick-fire 38.

The victory put them 18 points above the drop zone.

There was no such joy for Harden, who went down by eight wickets to Pool despite the efforts of Richard Wear (32) and Ben Burkill (32).

The hosts were dismissed for 156, as Matt Naylor claimed 4-43, and the total was not nearly enough as Pool cruised home in just over 35 overs.

Phil Leng took 1-21 and Ben Burkill 1-25 but Josh Inglis led the Pool charge with 79.

Harden are 19 points short of safety and it will take a miracle for the bottom clun to avoid relegation.

Ben Rhydding became leaders Beckwithshaw’s latest victims, unable to master Istikhar Hussain who took 6-17 as they collapsed to 43.

There was a moment when a shock looked possible with the leaders at 29-5 but Yasar Ali (28no) clinched his side’s tenth win.

In Division Three, Menston’s Gareth Lee (7-47) restricted Silsden to 187 despite a 104 second-wicket partnership between Simon Cox (65) and Mohammed Imran (44).

Even though heavy rain restricted the number of overs available to them, Dean Harvey (85) clinched the win for Menston as they romped home with seven wickets to spare in 26.3 overs.

Steeton II enjoyed a five-point winning draw at Rawdon II, who scored 181-8 in 50 overs.

That was 105 runs short of Steeton’s 286-7, which saw Craig Walton score 96 runs and Adam Hardwick 80.

Silsden II suffered the narrowest of defeats at home to Menston II, losing by a solitary wicket.

S Warriner scored 32no in the hosts’ 132-9 before Menston sneaked home on 136-9, J Appleyard taking 5-29 from 15 overs.

Harden II (122-7) held on for a point in a losing draw with Adel II (258-5).
