Cullingworth rider Luscombe wins 18th Manx trial
Robin Luscombe and his 22-year-old son Sam won the national Manx Two-Day Sidecar Trial on Sunday after sweeping through the opening day without losing a single penalty.
The Cullingworth team almost made it a clean sweep.
Robin said: “We lost a single penalty on Sunday, otherwise it was a very good weekend.”
Sam is studying for a business degree at Lougborough Univer-sity and that makes practice sessions and meeting up at events difficult.
But it did not stop multiple British sidecar trials champion Robin winning his 18th Manx Trial and with it a coveted collection of Manx swords and daggers.
The Luscombe collection, with several different passengers, could continue to mount as Robin intends to cut down on his championship events but the Manx Two-Day Trial will always remain one of his favourite.
The solo class was won by Manxman Josh Brain from Dan Thorpe and Ben Sprigg.
Glusburn builder Nathan Wrigglesworth was fourth, while his Bradford Motor Club colleague Anthony Ayrton was ninth.
