Scott Dyson's rugby future in doubt after concussion
The rugby future of Keighley’s Scott Dyson is in doubt.
The livewire flanker or centre was concussed in the SSE Yorkshire Division One match at home to Selby on September 28.
Keighley’s director of rugby Graeme Sheffield said: “Scott began losing time and blacking out after the match so we took him to hospital that night as a precaution and he didn’t come out of there until the following Thursday.
“Scott is out for an indefinite period. Long-term, we don’t know what the prognosis is but we just wish him all the best.”
Keighley are second from bottom and have what Sheffield describes as “a must-win game” on Saturday at home to basement club Acklam.
Luke Carter returns on the wing for Liam Kelly, who drops to the bench, while David Iliff stiffens the second row by replacing 44-year-old Steve Welch.
They might have bruised bodies but Old Grovians’ 23-17 home win over Bramley Phoenix in SSE Yorkshire Division Three has given director of rugby Martin Whitcombe and his players a massive lift.
However, Matthew Worrall and Chris Medley both suffered leg fractures, and Worrall is out for the season.
Whitcombe must therefore shuffle his injury ravaged squad ahead of the short trip to Burley.
He said: “It will test the playing resources of the club. It’s not that we have any more injuries than other sides but our problem is the long-term knocks.”
Old Grovians (at Burley) from: C Blackhall, D Roberts, C Cockshott, S Robinson, D Gullick, T Curry, T Dalton, J Feeney, D Foster, B Brown, J Yates, D Copsey, A Griffin, J Sowden, R Hopkinson, J Hinchliffe, A Crabtree, D Nulty.
