The daughter of Irvin Willoughby, Anne Mawer, has presented Branshaw with a shiny new trophy in her late father’s honour after the original one was damaged by thieves.

As reported in the Keighley News, the club had their silverware stolen back in June 2012 and, though it was recovered a few weeks later, the Willoughby Trophy was badly damaged beyond repair.

The Willoughby family were deeply upset by what had happened to the prize, which had been donated by Irvin back in 1931.

However, at Branshaw’s awards night last Saturday, Anne presented the club with a new trophy, which she chose herself to continue the legacy of her father.

She handed it over to this year’s winner Steve Busfield and with her on the night were three generations of her family.
