Keighley amateur Dylan Mitchell suffered his second successive whitewash as he lost to Steve Davis in the German Masters qualifying tonight.

Despite just one day of practice following his return from the Australian outback, Davis got straight back into the snooker groove with a 5-0 victory over the 18-year-old former Oakbank School pupil.

The 56-year-old legend spent several weeks in the jungle for the TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here’ and arrived back in the UK on Wednesday morning.

But he shrugged off jet-lag and lack of sharpness to beat Mitchell – who lost 6-0 to Neil Robertson in the UK Championship – with a top break of 72.

Davis goes through to the last 64 at the Tempodrom in Berlin for the world ranking event which runs from January 29 to February 2.

World champion Ronnie O’Sullivan will not be in Berlin as he lost 5-4 to Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.

Meanwhile, Mitchell plays Jimmy White tomorrow night in the Haikou World Open qualifying.
