Silsden’s Dougie Lampkin made one of his rare trial appearances on Boxing Day at Howden Wood, where he won the hard-course class riding his Gas Gas machine in the Bradford DMC contest.
He lost a single penalty in his winning ride, beating his cousins Dan and Ben Hemingway, plus talented Denby Dale teenager Jack Price.
Five members of Dougie’s famous family contested the Silsden-based trial, including cousin James Lamp-kin and brother Harry Lampkin.
On the 50/50 route consisting of hard and easy sections, Barrow-ford’s Phil Scott held the ace card over Stanbury fabrication engineer Gavin Thornton, while Idle class B youth rider Joe Faunthorpe really turned on the style to take third place. Colne’s Neil Sharp won the Clubman class.
* Lothersdale’s Nathan Parker won the hard course youth category on his Ossa machine at Richmond Motor Club’s Albert Shaw Memorial Trial in Reeth.
* Ian Austermuhle rode to victory on Saturday at Dob Park in the Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club’s annual charity trial but the winners were the Yorkshire Air Ambulance support fund, who gained a magnificent £777.54 from the motor cycle trial event.
The cash haul did not end at the point though because 12-year-old Silsden schoolboy Jacob Snowdon had done his own collecting and handed over a further £143.61.
The youngster also competed and won his class, riding his new 125cc Beta machine.
The competitors travelled from Shropshire, Lincolnshire, County Durham and Lancashire, as well as from across Yorkshire.
A total of 117 competitors from the age of six to 70 took part in the trial.
Austermuhle travelled from Mal-ton to beat Ben Hemingway and East Morten’s Martin Crosswaite in the expert class, while Guiseley fielded all three Inter award winners.
