Selby 55 Keighley 15

A much-depleted Keighley team were demolished by in-form Selby.

Keighley dominated the first 20 minutes as centre Adam Horsfall scored a well-deserved try wide out.

However, Selby were in confident mood and ran a penalty in midfield. Out-flanking the defence, hooker Sam Cruise crossed in the corner.

Keighley were put under pressure and kicked badly out of defence, giving Selby’s wing forward Rihi Brown the opportunity to finish a well-executed attack under the posts. Full back Josh Cruise added the conversion.

Keighley fought back as Alex Brown kicked a penalty but this was cancelled out with one for Cruise, followed by a try from winger Ben Lund, with Cruise again adding to the tally with his conversion.

Two influential Keighley players were forced to leave the field with injuries after the break and the hosts turned the screw.

The visitors were put under extreme pressure and Selby, with the cushion of a good score, ran everything to score five well-taken tries. Cruise added four conversions.

Keighley had the consolation of the final try when the forwards drove from a line-out to score through No 8 Leigh Sugden, with Brown adding the extras.
