Keighley & District Referees’ Association welcome Football League referee David Coote as their guest speaker in the Silsden clubhouse on Thursday (7.30pm).

Coote is a referee development manager with Manchester FA, a similar role to that held with the West Riding County FA by the last speaker at Keighley RA, Bobby Madley.

David is in his third season on the Football League and is looking long term to be invited to the select group of referees officiating in the Premier League.

Highlights of his career to date have been three trips to Wembley. He was an assistant in the 2009 FA Vase final between Whitley Bay and Glossop North End. This was followed by two trips in 2010, as fifth official for the FA Cup semi final when Portsmouth defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0, and as an assistant when Barrow defeated Stevenage 2-0 in the FA Trophy.

His most recent high profile game was officiating in this seasons FA Cup third round tie between Aston Villa and Sheffield United.

There is no admission charge for this event, which is open to all interested in football. However, those attending will be asked to support a raffle with the proceeds going to Manorlands.

A hot supper (with a vegetarian option) is available at £2 a head. If you are attending and want a supper please confirm with Simon Todd on 07866 089661 or simon@reff.wanadoo.co.uk
