The West Riding County Amateur League are thinking of extending their season beyond April 30 in a bid to beat the wet weather.

Results secretary Philip Rhodes said: “We have a meeting next Tuesday at Campion.

“It is really a development meeting but we cannot leave it until our next proper meeting on March 11 to make a decision as it will be too late.

“We only managed to play one match last Saturday – Wibsey v Salts Reserves – and that was on an artificial pitch at Thornton Grammar School.

“It took Steeton five attempts to play their West Riding County FA Challenge Cup tie against Oxenhope Rec, and Steeton are already on their second attempt to play the quarter-final against Brighouse Town Reserves.

"Our Premier Division is Step Seven and we would like an extension by the FA to May 11.”
