Keighley Cougars 54, Barrow Raiders 28

The Cougars are through to the fifth round of the Challenge Cup after a stellar attacking display saw them knock out Barrow.

Keighley scored ten tries on their way to victory and now face a visit to fellow Championship outfit Swinton in the next round.

They started off strongly as player-coach Paul March produced a one-handed offload to send in Richie Barnett. Danny Jones kicked the conversion to put the hosts six points up.

But that lead did not last as the Cumbrians hit back. Liam Campbell chipped over the top and collected his own kick before setting up Dalton Grant for the score. Ian Mort kicked the goal to equalise.

The visitors then took the lead, with Barrow scrum half Campbell’s high bomb proving too much for James Craven and Campbell regathered to finish under the sticks, Mort adding the extras.

Keighley quickly turned the game back in their favour as firstly, from a scrum, Paul Handforth challenged the defensive line and put through Danny Lawton for a try.

Handforth was the provider again shortly after. His kick from the next set after the kick-off saw Paul White cross, Jones slotting over the conversion which saw the Cougars take a four-point lead.

Handforth and March then combined to send in Craven at the corner, although Mort kicked a penalty goal to cut the deficit to a converted try at the break.

Scott Law went in for the opening try of the second half for Keighley, with Jones converting.

Andrew Dawson replied for the Raiders two minutes later, with Ryan Shaw adding the two, but they were quickly blown away shortly after.

March was next to score when he found a way through the line and Brendon Rawlins and Ross Peltier both crashed over in quick succession. Both the latter two efforts were goaled to put the home side well out of sight.

Campbell replied with his second before tries from Sean Hesketh and then Richie Barnett, as Jones converted twice to make it a rout.

Grant crossed for a further consolation try at the end to round off the scoring.
