Keighley RUFC junior players will form a guard of honour when Harlequins and Leicester Tigers run out at The Stoop in tomorrow’s televised Aviva Premiership clash.

The opportunity is part of the club’s annual junior tour, which will see 68 players from their under-13, 14, 15 and 17 squads head to London over Easter.

The Keighley tourists will experience a coaching clinic provided by Harlequins elite coaching staff at their Twickenham training ground before lining up next to the Quins and Tigers players as they enter the fray for their crunch clash in the evening (7.45pm).

The four touring squads will then play matches against Old Elthamians and Aylesford Bulls on Saturday and Sunday.

Keighley coaching co-ordinator Steve Welch said: “This will be a truly inspirational tour for our junior players.

“The Stoop is the home to Harlequins, a top-flight club and one of the founding members of the Rugby Football Union.

“The players will experience first-hand the excitement and thrill of standing centre-field before a Premiership game.

“It’s an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives and hopefully inspire them to greater things.”

The tour has been made possible through the club’s continued commitment to age-grade rugby that progresses players, including boys and girls, from age five through to 17 and then into the senior game.

The combination of good facilities, qualified coaches and established links with Oakbank and Parkside schools has ensured that rugby union continues to develop in the Aire Valley.

Funds for the tour have been raised by players and parents over the past six months. The club thanks the local community for their support, especially its main sponsors.
