Silsden finished rock-bottom in Aire-Wharfe League Division Three last year but they have been busy recruiting in the close season.

The Cobbydalers will be hoping to emulate Skipton, who took the title in 2013 – 12 months after applying for re-election.

Former Pakistani first class player Majid Inyat remains at the club for a third term and he will be joined in the middle order by the experienced Gulsheraz Ahmed, who has enjoyed success in the Bradford League with Keigh-ley, Esholt, Gomersal and, most recently, Manningham Mills.

Silsden have also recruited the experienced all-rounder Iqbal Khan from Manningham Mills.

He is a highly-effective and economical swing bowler who is also a big-hitting batsman capable of turning any game.

If he has fully recovered from the Achilles injury which kept him out for much of last season, he will be a big asset.

Mohammed Waqas (from Salem Athletic) is another recruit in a side which will be led by Hugh Sugden Meanwhile, the experienced Neil Spragg takes over as first-team captain from Jonathan Best at neighbours Steeton, who are looking to make their mark in Division One.

They have high hopes for their new South African Jonny Stander, who is reputed to be an explosive top-order batsman and spinner.

l Oakworth start their defence of the Craven League Division One title with an away game at Haworth.

Cowling make the short journey to Embsay on their return to the top flight. With Cullingworth moving into the Halifax League, only Bradley were relegated last season.

Their opening fixture sees them make the trip to Sutton-in-Craven. Newcom-ers Hepworth Idle are at Glusburn in their opening Division Two encounter.
