Cononley’s Beth Latham finished seventh in her first senior championship final.
The 21-year-old Bradford & Bingley Canoe Club member was third in the women’s K1 European Championship semi-finals in Vienna, qualifying her for the final.
“It feels absolutely amazing and it's definitely a step up from last year,” said Latham, who had come 24th a year ago when Krakow hosted the European Championships.
“I've done a lot of technical work over the winter; a lot of mental work and I keep working on the little things that make those small steps.
“This week I’ve felt really confident through the whole racing process, so it's great to have had an outcome which is a step up from last year.”
Latham’s attention now turns to the Lee Valley World Cup round this weekend in Hertfordshire.
