PREVIOUS Roy Smith Division One table-toppers Oxenhope crashed to a 122-run defeat at Queensbury in the Foster's Halifax League, handing the leadership to SBCI.

The hosts opened up with all guns blazing as Scott Osborne (70) and Jamie Priestley (41) propelled them to 150-2 after 22 overs.

However, Oxenhope turned to the medium pace of the returning Stuart Jackson (4-73) and skipper Duncan Tetley (3-41), who contained the total to 219-8.

As the skies darkened during the reply and rain threatened, Oxenhope lost Darren Hopkinson, Jackson and teenager Josh Ferguson, only Craig Bartlett (37) showing any form as wickets fell steadily to the swing bowling of Matthew Johnson (4-37).

After a rain break, Queensbury quickly cleared up the remaining wickets to dismiss the visitors for just 97, spinners Amjad Ali taking 2-12 and Girdiv Singh 3-10.

Cullingworth came unstuck at Old Crossleyans in Division Two. The newcomers had picked up four points from a 53-run defeat after the Crocs made 206-9, Phil Poole taking 7-74 from 23 overs.

Steve Welch (52) and young Billy Whitford (25) got Cullingworth's reply off to a great start but there was little to follow, G Fletcher also making 25 as they were dismissed for 153.

Denholme Clough were without a game, and the league as a whole takes a breather this weekend due to the Tour de France.

Meanwhile, Oxenhope's improved form continued in the Roy Smith First Division for second teams as they collected nine points by defeating visitors Old Crossleyans.

Young opening bowler Akash Gopal was in form again for Oxenhope, taking 3-30, with the rest of the dismissals shared out as veteran skipper Ian Dyson rang the bowling changes.

Crocs edged to 154-9 off their 45 overs, denying the home side full bowling points.

But Spencer Mawer returned to the team with a fine knock of 61 before Jack Barker finished off the scoring in typical aggressive style with five sixes and four fours on his way to a quickfire 51 not out to seal victory in the 28th over.

Veteran Dave Hall starred for Cullingworth II in their 50-run victory at home to Queensbury.

He made 101 not out, sharing a partnership of 100 with Dave Robinson (19 not out) in the hosts' 235-7, George Heartfield having earlier made 43.

Queensbury replied with 185-6, Robinson taking 3-56 and Martyn Rendell 2-27.
