Oakbank student Zara Knappy has helped Great Britain and Northern Ireland to team silver.
The 18-year-old A-Level pupil from Oakworth finished 21st in the under-20 women’s race at the European Mountain Running Championships at Gap in the French Alps.
Keighley & Craven Athletics Club member Zara clocked 23min 57sec for the challenging 4.25km course, which included a 250-metre climb.
Backed by race winner Georgia Malir from Ilkley Harriers, who finished in 22:10, seventh-placed Catriona Greaves, of Garscube in Scotland, and 23rd-placed Lydia Sharpe (Gateshead), Great Britain and Northern Ireland finished behind Turkey but ahead of France of the 28 competing teams.
