CULLINGWORTH player Kyle Welsh has set a new Upper Airedale Junior Cricket Association under-11 highest innings.

The youngster from Haworth slammed 52 runs against neighbouring Wilsden in a CartaSport League match.

The 11-year-old’s scintillating knock included 12 fours in his four overs of pairs cricket.

And just to make his night’s work complete, he also took three wickets and four catches.

Last year Kyle actually scored 55 but he had two innings to reach that total in a match, also against Wilsden. This time he needed just one innings to carry his team to an emphatic win and himself beyond the 205 totalruns he tallied last year.

He now has 210 runs in 2014, the joint second highest behind the record 259 by club-mate Joseph Hall, set in 2012.

Joseph held the previous highest individual score record with 45, also in 2012.

Kyle, who has represented UAJCA at under-ten and under-11 level, is managed and coached at Cullingworth by Phil Poole, who said: “It’s the finest innings I’ve ever seen from such a young lad.”
