KEIGHLEY RZM have retained the Quaid-e-Azam Yasmin and Shaid Cup after beating Onq by two wickets in the final at Saltaire.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Onq lost an early wicket before Farakh Hussain and Haider Jangir put on 42. The pair were dismissed in quick succession and further wickets fell to leave them 90-6 in the 29th over.

Irfan Amjad (50) and Yasser Abbas (32) took the score to 154 in the 41st over before losing the latter to Yasir Ali. The tail put on another 27 in the final four overs, taking the final score to 180 off their 45 overs.

Keighley RZM had their work cut out after they lost their first five wickets for just 48 runs, having been 11-3 at one stage. Silsden’s Gulsheraz Ahmed (38) was dropped in the first over but went on to score freely while he lost partners at the other end. Gulsheraz was caught surperbly by Farakh Hussain behind the stumps to put Onq in charge at 65-6. But Umar Khatab (46) and Waseem Qasim, both with a wealth of experience, needed to graft and build a partnership to put Keighley back in the game.

They put on 71 runs before Umar was trapped leg before by Jangir as a bowling change paid dividends. Captain Zeeshan Qasim assisted Waseem to get closer to the Onq total before the skipper was out for 12 in the 39th over. It took Mahir Ali (10no) and man of the match Waseem Qasim (52no) to guide RZM home to secure the cup.
