KEIGHLEY'S season continues to end with a whimper rather than a bang in the JCT600 Bradford League.

Sunday's five-wicket defeat at Bowling Old Lane means that Richard Wear's team have not won since August 2, when they defeated visitors Brighouse.

Keighley have lost four matches and had another abandoned – on Saturday at home to Idle – since but they have only slipped from third to fourth in the Division Two table.

Richard Robinson scored 54 of Keighley's 132 all out but the only others players to reach double figures were opener Freddie Pearson (23) and Tom Stead (13) as Zubair Najeeb (4-43) and Ahsan Butt (3-20) got to work.

Keighley's hopes were briefly raised when Bilal Ahmed was dismissed for two but Butt guided Old Lane home with an unbeaten 49, aided by opener Tahir Khan's 28, despite Joe Stead's 3-30.

Keighley's game at Idle on Saturday was a victim of the rain, while the second team welcomed back Hanging Heaton to the venue of their Priestley Shield triumph three weeks beforehand.

Opener Steve Reape scored 84 not out of Keighley's 183-4 off their 30 overs at Lawkholme Lane, Fahid Ali hitting 64 and adding 128 for the third wicket with Reape.

Hanging Heaton used eight bowlers, including opening their attack with wicketkeeper Paul Eachus, but were unable to start their reply.

Keighley's second team have now finished their season, ending eighth with 190 points, while the first team wrap up their season with a winnable fixture at bottom club Windhill this weekend.
