HARDEN have escaped relegation from Division Two of the Aire-Wharfe League.

They needed seven points to be sure of safety against already-promoted Follifoot but, despite an eighth-wicket stand of 85 between Paul Quinlan (46) and Lee Spragg (40), could only manage five.

Harden then had to sweat until they heard that Upper Wharfedale had lost to Colton, and so would be relegated instead, Harden finishing 11 points in front of their rivals.

Scott Hartley (3-31) and Matthew Hogg (3-44) were in the wickets as Follifoot made 227-9 but only Andy Wear (17) made double figures apart from Quinlan and Spragg in Harden's reply of 136.

Silsden completed the double over neighbours Addingham in Division Three, opting to bat first and making 219-7.

Veteran Tim Sugden made a patient 25 and, with Majid Inayat (88), put on 104 for the third wicket after losing Simon Cox and Gulsheraz Ahmed (21).

Sadir Khan (21), Zarshed Khan (34no) and skipper Hugh Sugden (12) then also made valuable runs.

Addingham, in reply, lost Will Atkins for one and, despite a good innings of 85 by opener Ricky Palacio – who was eighth out – could only make 149, Inayat taking 4-35 to complete a fine individual match.

Guiseley, despite taking 14 off the first over, were 125-8 in Division One at Steeton but ended up on 225 thanks to No 9 Nasir Jamal (55) and No 10 Jack Kelly (43), who added 92, Neil Spragg taking 3-42, James Pearson 3-43 and Jonny Stander 2-24.

However, stands of 78 between John Akrigg (35) and Jonathan Best (51 off 44 deliveries, including a six and five fours) and 57 between Oliver Gledhill (31 off 19 balls) and Phil Barrett (31no off 23) helped Steeton to a two-wicket win in the 48th over, despite Jamal's 5-34.

Steeton Seconds said goodbye to stalwarts Mick Wilson and skipper and wicketkeeper Julian Higginson but could not quite clinch the Division One title ahead of Otley.

Wilson (35) shared a 73-run third-wicket partnership with Hayden Tennant (36) in their 156 total, 33 of which were extras.

But that was more than enough as the home side were blasted out for 70 in just 23.5 overs, Paul Hardwick taking 5-31 – including three wickets in four balls – as Steeton were overall runners-up.

Silsden were dismissed for 66 at Addingham (216-9) to lose by 150 runs in Division Three, where they were next to bottom, while fourth-placed Harden beat Follifoot by 100 runs in Division Two.
