Division Six West

Queensbury B 10 Cowling Harlequins 38

ON THE back of a great performance at Greetland All Rounders A, Harlequins went into this game in a confident mood but, due to work commitments and injuries, they travelled to the Mount with 13 men.

Nevertheless, they pulled of their second win of the season, and it is the first time for six seasons they have achieved two away wins.

Quins played downhill first, and stand-off Scott Cunningham found a gap in Bury's defence to dart to the line, Liam Kelly adding the extras, and off their next set it was 12-0 as captain Jay Bingham scored out wide, Kelly again converting.

With Chris Ashworth and James Bowdin making good yards, it wasn't long until Kelly and Craig Spencer linked up to find Craig Nicholson, who burst onto a great pass to score.

Kelly again improved the score with the kick, and crossed himself to make it 22-0 at half-time, and from the re-start Anthony Packer's blind-side pass but Bowdin into a gap, and he ran 40 metres for the try, Kelly landing the goal.

Queensbury then scored a great try, their prop chipping and chasing, but great defence and a red card for Bury helped to turn the tide, Cunningham scoring.

The hosts then got their second try but winger Matt Salisbury and Dean Williamson saved another Bury try to seal victory before Kelly dived over for Williamson to convert.

Harlequins are now stealing themselves for a tough test on Saturday against Worth Village at Burgess Playing Fields (2.30).
