HOMEGROWN Cougars player Josh Lynam has signed a one-year deal with QRL Cup outfit Norths Devils.
The back-rower had attracted interest from neighbours Bradford Bulls but, following the end of the season, announced his decision to travel in Thailand before heading to Australia for 12 months.
Keighley chairman Gary Fawcett said: “This is a good move for Josh’s development to play out there and we wish him all the best and hope that he returns to us in 2016.”
A product of Cougars’ academy, he made his debut for the club’s senior side on the opening day of the 2013 campaign as they were defeated 42-10 by Batley Bulldogs. He went on to make 43 appearances, scoring 11 tries, as well as featuring in this year’s Challenge Cup quarter-final tie at Widnes Vikings.
Lynam, who had also been a target for the Devils’ rivals Burleigh Bears, left the UK on Monday.
His spell Down Under will see him come up against some familiar faces. Former Cougars coach Jason Demetriou is in charge of of Northern Pride, who were crowned State champions on Sunday following victory over Penrith Panthers.
Ex-Keighley stars Sam Obst and Semi Tadulala also play for Pride.
