DOZENS of people attended a charity endurance challenge in Keighley to raise cash for a seriously ill boy from Parkwood Rise.

The event on the running track at University Academy Keighley raised at least £165 for the Callum Ingham appeal.

Callum, nine, has neuroblastoma, which is an aggressive form of childhood cancer.

Campaigners are trying to raise enough money to send him to America for potentially life-saving, but expensive treatment.

Utley resident Franki Coulthread, an engineer at Steeton's Acorn Stairlifts, organised the endurance challenge after learning about Callum's plight from work colleague Terri Barker, who is a friend of Callum's mother.

Miss Coulthread said three teams took part in the fundraiser. Each group needed to have at least one member running around the track for six hours.

The winning team, made up of friends and relatives of Callum, was able to complete 162 laps.

Miss Coulthread said: "Lots of kids turned up and they wanted to join in with the running. It was a good day with a great atmosphere.

"We also had a tombola and a snack bar and sponsorship money is still coming in. Altogether we had about 40 people there."
