Keighley 63 Ripon 38

KEIGHLEY managed to field probably their best team of the season and it paid off with an emphatic Yorkshire Two win.

Superb interplay between the forwards and backs overwhelmed the Ripon defence in the opening 30 minutes and led to three well-taken tries by outstanding No8 Josh Hannah and one for centre Adam Horsfall. Danny McGee added two conversions.

Ripon eventfully managed to gain a foothold in Keighley territory and some crisp handling allowed powerful winger Joe Mypana to force his way over in the corner.

Keighley's forward play led to tries for forwards Leigh Sugden and Will Armitage. Debutant winger Nick Holroyd added a try in the corner. McGee added two further conversions.

Ripon in the second half unable to fully compete up front used their big No8 Stead in the backline, which led to difficulties for the Keighley defence and a second try for winger Mypana and two for rangy full back Joe Duffield. Scrum half Bob Whitaker landed three conversions.

Keighley weathered the Ripon resurgence and regained forward control, which gave their backs quality possession and a try in the corner for winger Ben Atkinson. McGee added to his tally with a penalty.

Near their own line Ripon were guilty of some sloppy play at a line out which gave Hannah the chance to dive on a loose ball to score his fourth try.

Ripon raised the tempo of their game and some really skilled play earned tries for centres Mark Spellman and Tom Newby. Whittaker landed one of the conversions.

As full time beckoned Keighley's Horsfall broke through a tired defence to score the final try which McGee converted.
