Keighley Cougars say they are awaiting the response of three Super League clubs to their revised resolutions in their proposal for an extraordinary general meeting over their dispute with the RFL.

The club’s hopes of successfully overturning their controversial demotion appear to be fading after their Championship One fixtures were released on Sunday night.

Fawcett last week conceded that “we have to assume we are in League One next season and must cut our cloth to fit”.

But Cougars are still seeking a financial settlement to avoid taking legal action over the RFL’s decision to overturn the point penalties incurred by Batley and Doncaster for fielding ineligible players.

And the club want an EGM to help their case.

The club said in a brief statement: “We received a response late Friday from the RFL and our lawyers are currently working through the documents – we'll update you once we hear back from them.

“Unfortunately it is a slow and frustrating process for all involved and we appreciate the support from everyone while this continues.”

On the prospect of an EGM, Fawcett said yesterday: “I've sent out a revised set of seven resolutions for the EGM and just awaiting some confirmations of support.

“Hopefully I'll get this shortly and will be able to send the request to the RFL Board straight away.”
