League Cup first round

Keighley Oaks 13

Amaranth 0

MANAGER Steve Brett's fears about having no substitutes were confounded when Premier Division Keighley Oaks romped to a 13-0 victory over Division Three Amaranth at Bronte Playing Fields.

Player of the match Luka Dodds swiftly calmed home fears by grabbing a hat-trick inside half an hour on the way to a magnificent seven goals.

Dodds lashed home the first, Sophie Gaines bagged the second after a fumble by the visitors' keeper, and it as 4-0 by 19 minutes as Leah Gilmore smashed home the third and Gaines headed the fourth.

There was no recovering from this for the underdogs as Dodds completed her treble by taking advantage of Rebecca Granger's through ball and then by chipping the keeper.

Gilmore's second followed from a superb cross by left winger Kylie Armstrong, and Dodds took her haul to five goals before half-time by initially rounding the keeper after a through ball and then planting a superb header in the back of the net.

Trailing 9-0 at half-time, Amaranth changed their keeper, altered their formation and hustled the hosts.

It worked for about 30 minutes as Oaks had to show their mettle in defence, but they were breached when Dodds played a one-two with Gaines from a free-kick before chipping her sixth goal.

She added a seventh before Armstrong, from a Granger cross, and Granger herself finished the rout.

Oaks have a league derby on Sunday at Bradford Park Avenue (2pm).
