Wharfedale Triangle League League Cup first round

Keighley Town 7 Armley Rangers 1

A LATE equaliser from the visitors forced extra-time before an avalanche of goals saw Town end emphatic winners.

Leon Smith opened the scoring in the 15th minute for Keighley, who failed to add to their lead before the break despite having all the possession.

Town continued to dominate after the interval but appeared to have left their shooting boots at home and Armley punished them to level and take the match into extra-time.

A pep talk did the trick, though, as Keighley found the net six times without reply through Leroy Hickman (2), Michael Donohoe, Mark Webster, Smith and Joe Drake.

Cullingworth Youth 3 Horsforth St Margaret's 9

Youth were able to select their best team so far this season but they failed to turn up, giving collectively one of their worst performances to date.

The visitors were a goal up in the fifth minute when they conceded a free-kick and Horsforth, having most of the play in the first half, found the net a further two times before the break. The few chances Youth created were woefully neglected.

For the first 30 minutes of the second half, Saints had the better of the play, scoring another three times.

Youth briefly woke up to net three themselves through captain Hary Holmes, Jack Waper and Jack Shellabear, but then went back to sleep and conceded a further three goals.

On Sunday Youth are at home to Menston Town.
