Shipley Town 3 Keighley Town 2

Simple defensive errors cost Town dearly in a match which saw them have the better of the play.

They opened the scoring in the tenth minute through Michael Donohoe but a mix-up in defence allowed Shipley to equalise before the break, the ball going in off the keeper.

Town regained the lead in the second half through Leon Smith but another defensive error allowed Shipley to level the scores and then snatch the winner.

Cullingworth Youth 1 Park Row Panthers 3

Youth gave their best performance of the season yet undeservedly ended on the losing side.

The first 45 minutes saw the game played at a fast pace, with play switching from end to end and both keepers kept busy.

Panthers opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Youth’s Joseph Flaherty scored the goal of the match, a real cracker from 20 yards out. However, Park Row regained the lead before the break.

Playing downhill in the second half, Youth laid siege to the visitors’ goal but it was one of those days. They hit the bar on several occasions, numerous shots went inches wide and the keeper made some great saves.

Cullingworth were hit by the classic suckerpunch as a rare sortie from the visitors into their half saw them score from a corner after their number four was left unmarked.

Joel Hardy was Youth’s man of the match, while their new keeper had a good game.

Youth are at home to Shipley Town on Sunday.
