CROSS Hills have taken advantage of Rolls' inactivity to return to the top of the Mastab's Craven League Premier Division table.

Their 4-0 victory at eighth-placed Cowling, which was inspired by Gavin Shearer, means they lead the way for the first time since early last month.

Silsden Whitestar have climbed from fourth to third in Division One on the back of a 12-0 thumping of Hellifield.

Simon Stanfield led the way with five goals, and he was followed by Mark Bradley (3), Jack Kendall (2) and Ben O'Melia (2), with Andrew McNulty getting the man-of-the-match award.

Ingrow & Worth Valley have notched only their second league victory of the season, but visitors Bradley, bidding to avoid a fifth straight defeat, took the lead via Joshua Clarkson in wet conditions.

Changes were forced on the hosts due to injuries, with key players Gareth Atkinson, Martin Coleman and Ryan Stubbs all being long-term injury absentees and Tom Barlow and Sean Kelly being forced out hours before kick-off due to illness.

Liam Bellamy and Rhys Palmer made their first starts of the season, and the return of club record scorer Chris Wheater was a well-timed bonus.

Ingrow created several half chances in the first 20 minutes, Wheater heading wide when he probably should have scored, Stuart Hoyle missing with the goal at his mercy and Palmer stinging the palms of the Bradley keeper as the Steampigs penned them in their own half.

Clarkson swept the ball home from close range and it took Ingrow until ten minutes into the second half to equalise on a pitch that was cutting up, Chris Wheater being felled in the area and his brother Craig smashing home the penalty.

Craig Wheater’s whipped cross was then turned into his own net by a Bradley defender and Ingrow were flying.

Chris Wheater was then finished well, despite the keeper’s best efforts, to make it 3-1 before Craig Wheater rounded things off, skipping through the back line and sliding the ball under the Bradley keeper.

A delighted Steampigs manager Liam Marsh said: “We deserved the win and it could have been more. The back three looked solid and double man of the match Liam Bellamy totally controlled midfield."

In Division Two, hosts Polonia edged out Oxenhope Rec Thirds 4-3 in a thriller to go second on goal difference behind Grassington United Reserves.

Sebastian Miler’s 20th-minute strike for Polonia made it 1-1 by the break but home man of the match Damian Swies added their second ten minutes into the second half, and a pair from Macilj Gawrydi, after 70 and 78 minutes, sealed the victory.

Leroy Hickman was Oxenhope’s man of the match, and also scored to go with strikes from Tony Cooper and Nivard Trowers.

Sporting Keighley climbed a place to sixth after a 9-2 home victory over Earby Town Reserves, Aaron Abbas and Astir Zuber both bagging hat-tricks to go with goals from Chris Morris, man of the match Jinaid Taj and Habib Aslam.

Bradley Reserves were the big movers in Division Three, going from 11th to seventh after a surprise 3-2 home win over Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves, Andrew Hardeman, Liam Wheeler and Tom Wilson netting for the victors.

Much-changed Cross Hills Reserves stayed sixth after a 2-0 home win over Cowling Reserves, who started the better and were denied by the keeper and the bar.

However, Cross Hills got a grip in midfield and Callum Lowe put them in front with a sweet strike.

He also scored the second after good combination with fellow former Sutton player Joe Birney.

Tom Storrie was Cross Hills’ man of the match, with Martyn Dalby taking the Cowling award.

Depleted Sutton Reserves went down 3-0 at second-placed Pendle Renegades Reserves, paying the price for failing to capitalise on a great opening 20 minutes.

Sutton’s man of the match was captain Danny Waterfield, with John Naylor and John Crummack also putting in good performances.
