West Riding League Cup second round

Hebden Royd 2 Keighley Oaks 11

Having been on the end of an emphatic defeat the week before, Keighley experienced the other side of the coin as they hit double figures.

Oaks took the lead on 11 minutes when a well-taken corner by captain Rebecca Granger found the feet of winger Rachael Holdsworth, whose first-time shot was deflected into the net off a Hebden defender.

Minutes later Granger put her side further ahead with a superb long-range shot and she netted her second with a 30-yard lob before claiming her hat-trick.

Oaks were on fire, with wingers Rachael Holdsworth and Leah Gilmore causing all sorts of trouble. After half an hour, a well-placed ball over the top from Granger put Kirsty Delaney through to make it 5-0.

Granger and team-mate Emma Firth were dominating the midfield area and goal number six came when an excellent pass from Granger set up Holdsworth, who cut inside from the right flank and drove home.

Striker Melissa Houldsworth lost her marker with some clever play to slot in the seventh before Hebden pulled one back by the break.

Two minutes into the second half and Granger was at it again, another long-range lob giving the keeper no chance.

Hebden kept fighting and committed players forward but Oaks countered, a well-placed shot from Delaney putting Oaks further ahead.

Delaney netted her hat-trick courtesy of a fantastic through-ball from Firth before Hebden added a second.

The visitors had the last say on 90 minutes, player of the match Granger claiming her fifth goal.

Keighley are at home to Harrogate Railway on Sunday (1pm).
