GIRLS from a Cullingworth school have netted a district sports prize.

The under-14 netball squad at Parkside School won this year’s Bradford under-14 netball tournament.

School spokesman Majella McColgan said: “It was a very exciting final and they beat Bradford Grammar School in the final by one goal.”

The team consists of Natalia Karkoszka, Olivia Ryder-Maddocks, Chloe Allatt, Emma Gallagher, Megan Brierly, Eliza Findlay, Elicia Marks, Megan Clayton, and Sophie Moulden stop.

Netball has for several years been a major sport in Parkside School, with several teams catering for different ages.

In autumn last year the school celebrated after several girls were successful in trials at Bradford Grammar School, one going on to play for the West Yorkshire netball team and 11 others for the Bradford squad.

Natalia Karkoszka was chosen to represent West Yorkshire under-13s, while the Bradford squad picked six of her under-13 classmates and five under-15s.
