CHESTER international trials rider Dec Bullock dropped in on remote and exposed Skyrakes Farm on Sunday morning to sample a top class Bradford & District Motor Club Yorkshire trial with his friend Jack Price.

Despite some rain and a Siberian breeze blowing down the Aire Valley bringing arctic conditions, 92 competitors turned out for the annual ES Myers Trophy Trial and West Yorkshire Championship final.

For Bullock it was a happy day in the Yorkshire Dales as he managed to overcome Price and reigning Yorkshire trials champion Sam Yeadon.

The winner pinned his score to a mere nine penalties, which in view of the heavy conditions was quite some performance.

Fourth place on the hard course went to Nathan Wrigglesworth while top youth was Sam Johnson.

Only four marks separated Ossett's Thomas Housecroft, Louis Haley and Oliver Sharp in the novice class.

Mirfield's Andrew Jackson was supreme in the Clubman A class, winning by 11 marks from Halifax contender Michael Benn and Drighlington's Paul Kettlewell. Bradford's Keiran Child was fourth overall and best Class B youth rider.

In Clubman B, Boston Spa competitor Martin Wilson just held of West Leeds club member Howard Gulley and Simon Sharp – whose company featured in the latest Guy Martin televised world powerless downhill record attempt last week. The Barnoldswick company manufactured the vital disc brakes for the special four-wheeled buggy. The non-powered world record was broken followed by a spectacular crash that destroyed the machine. Guy Martin, as usual, just laughed it all off, after a 90mph crash.
