KEIGHLEY youngsters Joe Fox and Jacob Snowdon pushed Cliff Camfield all the way in round three of Bradford District Motor Club's Autowbars Championship at Rough Holden, Silsden.

But the Barnoldswick adult novice managed to ride every one of the sections without penalty on his Scorpa machine to win by one mark.

Snowdon lost his penalty in section five on the first lap, while Fox completed his first lap matching Camfield until lap two and section eight, where he had to get a boot down or be blown off his Beta in gale-force wind.

The conditions failed to deter 76 trials rider and eight hardy observers, where three laps were enough to decide winners in each of the three classes.

Keighley youth Aaron Carter completed the leaderboard behind Pontefract adult Phillip Frizzell and Catterick's Chris Laws. East Keswick youngster Harry Hemingway excelled on the 50/50 route, winning from adult John Spensley and Buxton Class C contender Harry Turner. Ten of the fifteen competitors were national youth division contenders who will compete at Howden Clough on February 21 in the first championship trial of the year.

Youth seemed to excel in the extreme conditions. Skipton's Josh Pearson won the beginners class riding his Beta machine. The Class C boy is great great grandson of former factory AJS rider Tommy Wortley, who excelled in trials and scrambles in the forties and fifties. Organiser Paul Bailey thanks all officials for enduring the severe weather conditions on Saturday and the competitors for supporting the Autowbars Championship series.
