SSE Yorkshire Division Two: Keighley 20, Roundhegians 10

THE FIRST quarter of the game was even but Keighley were first on the scoreboard with a well-taken penalty from full back Alex Brown.

Roundhegians responded well by dominating field position. However, against the run of play, Brown attacked from his own 22 and broke through the defence, winger Jack Atkinson being up in support to take the ball deep into opposition territory before giving centre Danny McGee a try-scoring pass, Brown adding the conversion.

Roundhegians were stung into action, which led to a penalty for full back Alex Jones.

It was one-way traffic, a superb Jones breaking through a weak Keighley defence and drawing the last man before giving winger Elliot Jackson an easy run in under the posts, Jones converting.

In the second half, Roundhegians continued to dominate but the home forwards began to exert control.

A series of long-range runs by Shaun Minikin, ably supported by fellow back-rower Tom Lowther, drove play deep into the opposition half, and eventually second-rower Leigh Sugden was driven over.

Although Roundhegians had their moments, the Keighley pack were on top and, after a some fine driving play from Minikin and prop Sam Booker, Sugden finished the scoring with his second try.
