Steeton Reserves 1 Oxenhope Recreation Thirds 2

Oxenhope Thirds created local football history when they made it an all-Oxenhope Keighley FA Supplementary Cup final for the first time with a shock semi-final win at their higher-ranked hosts.

While Rec's reserves were beating Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves 5-2 in the other last-four tie, their thirds set up a one-club showpiece final in April as they overcame the West Riding County Amateur League Division One outfit.

The visitors settled quicker, using the pace of Connor Madden and Liam Dyson to good effect, and took the lead on 25 minutes.

Nivard Trowers won the ball in midfield and played it out to Madden, who floated a beautiful cross to Dyson at the far post. He hooked the ball over his shoulder into Joel Gallagher, who hammered past keeper Paul Linyard.

They pressed for a second and hit the woodwork twice before Steeton equalised through Greg Hudson’s powerful strike.

Oxenhope started the second half the better and penned the Chevrons in their own half for long periods but found keeper Linyard hard to beat.

The visitors hit the frame of the goal for a third time but their persistence paid off when defender Chris Fazackerley slid the ball to Madden. He cut in from the flank cut and found himself one-on-one with Linyard before calmly dinking the ball over him for the winner.

Oxenhope Thirds: Gower, Fazackerley C, Hawker, Cox, Scott, Fazackerley D, Trowers, Madden, Cooper (Murphy), Gallagher (Brown), Dyson (Quinlan P).

Oxenhope Reserves 5 Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves 2

Oxenhope’s second string secured their place in the Supplementary Cup final for the fifth consecutive year but had to come back from a two-goal deficit.

Oxenhope were five divisions above their opponents but it did not show in the opening salvos as Ingrow had them rocking.

Stewart McClennan opened the scoring for the visitors after just five minutes, punishing some slack defending.

Minutes later the underdogs were at it again, this time veteran striker Dave Harman finding himself in acres of space in the box and stroking past stranded keeper Nick Hudson. Oxenhope eventually settled but missed several chances before Jonathan Clewes slid the ball into Joe Brady, who coolly finished. Soon after, youngster Lewis Hopkinson scrambled home an astute pass from James Bailey for the equaliser.

Just before the break the home side took a fortunate lead when a through-ball saw the Ingrow keeper Shaun Crow race from his line. The ball bobbled over his foot and Bailey calmly stroked the ball into the empty net.

In the second half Oxenhope kept Ingrow pegged back in their own half and a cross from the right found Brady, who finished from close range.

Ingrow showed grit and determination with some outstanding last-ditch tackles but the tie was made safe when man of the match Graham Robinson danced his way round three defenders and passed the ball into the net.

Oxenhope Reserves: Hudson, Wellard, Ritson (Thompson), Ward, Pullan, Clewes, Hopkinson, Blacka, Brady, Bailey (Lee), Robinson (McCullough).
