Boothtown Terriers A 14, Worth Village 72

With seven changes from the previous week's game, Village took time to get in to their stride and fell behind to a converted try following some slack tackling.

This stung Worth into life and, after good work from Jason Dovestone and James Gow, they struck back with Danny Spencer going over in the corner. The conversion was missed by Joe Copperwaite but he went on to complete ten out of 13 attempts.

Despite the efforts of the hard-working Terriers, captain Daz McNulty went in under the posts after a break from Nick Hird, who was well supported by Billy McKay.

Village were trying to play open rugby but the next try came from the hard-running forwards, with Ben Ross and Sean Cole setting Sean Knapper up and he carried three defenders over the line with him to make it 16-6.

Worth continued to play expansive rugby and, with Ricky Leatham and Connor Caveney making the gaps, Kris Gott went over for a trademark score.

The hard-working Joe Copperwaite was next to go over for a well-deserved try after a break from the young Chris Ellison, with the ever-willing Dale O'Connor also involved, as Village went in 26-6 ahead at half-time.

The second half started with a bang as Ross ran 80 yards, beating the full back with a side-step, to go in under the posts.

Man of the match Joe Buckley scored the first of his hat-trick after a break from Leatham before Boothtown replied with a good try out wide. Village finished in style to pile on the points as Leatham, Buckley and Spencer crossed the whitewash before the biggest cheer of the day was reserved for Jake Feather, who scored under the posts after a barnstorming run from 60 yards.

Worth, who remain second in the table, visit King Cross in the Halifax ARL Joe Blackford Memorial Cup first round on Saturday.
