Keighley Albion 44 Moorends Marauders 12

Great finishing from full back Alex Young and winger Jamie Hodgson were the highlights from Albion’s outing against Doncaster side Moorends last Saturday.

Keighley started strongly in the opening minutes, with centres Jamie Stephenson and Chris Spencer proving a handful. They were getting good service from the flowing rugby being played through half-backs Richard Blackburn and Cal Hudson, ably backed up by loose forward Brady Godfrey.

With Stephenson and Spencer both making good yards downfield and creating the space for their respective wingers, Jamie Hodgson bagged himself a hat-trick to give Albion a great start.

With hooker Alfie Seeley directing his forwards, Mark Smith, Jack Adams, Jason Rolls and Stevie Cutler all made the hard yards to keep Moorends on the back foot.

Spencer made his presence felt every time he had the ball, while Alex Young was rewarded for great support play as he added to the backs tally with four tries.

Winger Olek Pala crossed after more good work from Stephenson and then man of the Spencer crossed to cap a fine performance.

Hudson added a conversion while Seeley added three goals to close out the Keighley scoring. Albion have a double header over the next fortnight against unbeaten leaders Ovenden. They play hosts in the league on Saturday (2.30pm at Crossflatts) and will be looking for revenge after a narrow defeat at the Halifax side early in the campaign.

The following week Albion travel to Ovenden in the Halifax Cup.
