Cowling Harlequins 18 Greetland All Rounders A 0

QUINS made up for a poor showing the week before, despite going down to 12 men after 20 minutes.

Cowling were unhappy at the refereeing, with the penalty count 18-1 in favour of the Halifax side. However, despite pressure from the visitors some great defence from Grant Ackroyd and Jay Bingham kept them at bay.

Quins lost Wayne Verity on the 20th minute to a red card but man of the match Alister Feather and Dave Gooding found Bingham to power over on the left side and Gooding kicked the conversion.

Cowling increased their lead when Kirk Verity hit Daniel Spencer with a drop-off ball and powered over the line.Gooding added the two and made it 12-0 at the break.

Greetland threw the kitchen sink at the Quins line after the break but great defence from Brian Vincent and Steve Powell kept the All rounders out.

Playing down hill, Cowling powered on, with Liam Mitchell and Ashley Wood to the fore. Kirk Verity kicked the ball high on the last tackle before a good chase and steal from Mitchell saw him gather the ball and race under the sticks. Gooding put the game to bed with the conversion.

Harlequins host Meltham All Blacks this Saturday.
