Silsden 1, AFC Liverpool 0

SILSDEN climbed above opponents Liverpool with a narrow North West Counties League win from a tight mid-table Premier Division clash.

Chris Wademan's 29th-minute strike earned the Cobbydalers maximum points and a place in the top ten at the expense of their visitors in the first meeting of the clubs this season.

Silsden dominated the first half and were only denied an earlier breakthrough by an outstanding save. But the keeper then had no chance with Wademan's close-range effort after good work by Dale Feather and Craig Nicholls.

Liverpool were much better with the wind behind them in the second half and dominated possession without creating too much.

Cobbydalers keeper Danny Thorpe was relatively untroubled, even in the last ten minutes when Liverpool threw everything at the hosts.

Joint-manager Danny Bolton said: "Ryan (Haigh) and I are delighted with the win from what was a decent game.

"I thought we dominated the first half and created lots of chances because of our attacking style of play. We defended solidly as a back four and looked a threat going forward."
