BROOMHILL have had a great three days in Division Two of the Craven League.

They followed up a 6-0 victory at Salts last Thursday with a 4-2 weekend win at Grassington United Reserves to back up their title claims.

Man of the match Andy Tanner netted twice at Salts, with Andy King and substitute Simon Harris also scoring, while King took the gong at United, where he netted twice, with Tanner also on the scoresheet.

Broomhill have now displaced United from second place, are three points ahead of them with four matches left and have two games in hand on leaders Sporting Keighley but only trail them by a point.

Sporting's challenge nosedived after a 3-0 defeat at fourth-placed Oxenhope Recreation Thirds, who are five points adrift of Broomhill with a game in hand.

The home side took the lead midway through the first half when keeper Pete Gower launched a long kick which was flicked on by Nivard Trowers to Joel Gallagher, who slotted the ball home.

The game swung back and forth until a Trowers corner on 75 minutes was met at the far post by Dale Hawker and he doubled the advantage.

The points were then made safe when man of the match Ben Manning played in young substitute Sam Murphy, who jinked inside his marker before hitting the bottom corner.

Bottom club Sutton notched what was only their second league win of the season last Wednesday when they defeated fifth-placed visitors Polonia 4-2.

Man of the match Lukasz Sarosinski (2), Jakoslaw Makhowski and substitute Jack Shaw were Sutton's marksmen, while Macilj Gawrydi and Sebastian Miler replied, with Daniel Trojan their man of the match. Polonia also lost 1-0 at Salts on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Division One side Ingrow & Worth Valley are through to the quarter-finals of the league's blue-riband event – the Northern Plant Hire Trophy.

They bridged 13 places in the league pyramid to defeat visitors Grindleton 3-0 and will now be at home to Grassington United, another top-flight club, on Wednesday, April 22 (6.15pm) for the right to face Trawden Celtic or Skipton LMS in the last four.

Will Storrie played well but Cross Hills lost their top-of-the-table Premier Division clash at second-placed Rolls 1-0.

This makes the hosts even more likely to win the championship as they trail the south Craven club by six points but have three games in hand.

But third and fourth-placed Skipton LMS and Settle United cannot be discounted either with their matches in hand.

At the other end of the table, Cononley Sports lost 4-3 at home to Earby Town, with Robert Kaminski (2) and Craig Ebbrell netting, while Reece Fowler was the losers' man of the match.

At least Sports received a home walkover from next-to-bottom Cowling on Tuesday last week.

Goals from man of the match Chris Hogg and Robbie Smith could not prevent a 5-2 home defeat for Bradley in Division One.

But Cross Hills Reserves enjoyed a 3-1 home win over basement boys Sutton Reserves in Division Three. Shaw netted for Sutton, whose gong winner was Danny Waterfield.

Jack Forbes-Sedgwick won both man-of-the-match awards for Cowling Reserves in their 4-1 defeat at Ilkley, while Jamie Fryers did best for Bradley Reserves in their 10-0 setback at home to leaders Carleton.
