GARGRAVE must have thought they were in with a good chance of victory after they knocked over visitors Oakworth Seconds for just 79 in Division Two of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

Ben Howell top-scored with 39 for Oakworth as skipper Will Smith claimed 4-31 and Harry McEneaney 4-38 but the hosts were hustled out for 43, with Jack Ellis taking 4-23 and Howell 3-4.

Hepworth & Idle entertained Bradley and went down by eight wickets.

The home side were dismissed for 86, Chris Hawksworth scoring 31 and Thomas Hawksworth 29 as James Heseltine spun his way to 6-11 from 9.3 overs.

Heseltine followed this with 26 to go with Neil Andrews' 50 not out as the Matthew Lane side galloped to the points.

Play was only possible in five matches on another rain-hit Saturday, and the only Division Three game to survive was at Haworth Road Seconds, where Waj Mahmood made 57 of their 131, visitors Bradford & Bingley Thirds replying with 77, with Tim Carrow top-scoring with 27 as Anthony Haigh took 5-26.

Charlotte Boulton played a big part in Crossflatts Seconds defeating previously unbeaten Bingley Congs Seconds by four wickets at Ryshworth Park in Division Four.

The Beckfoot Lane side posted 117-9 off the 38 overs they were allowed, with Gary Cook making 44 as youngster Charlie Hall took 5-24 and Boulton 4-31.

The latter followed this with 36 to go with evergreens Bryan Freimanis (30) and Dave Hall (29) as victory was achieved in the penultimate over.

Gargrave Seconds made 129-9 at Chatburn Seconds, with Tony Spensley making the day’s highest score of 76.

The Ribble Valley side then cruised to a six-wicket victory.

There was no play in either Division One or Division Five as Friday night's rain took its toll.
