SILSDEN may have had to put their awards night back but they are the first cab off the rank in terms of confirming pre-season friendlies.

The Cobbydalers have announced games against Thackley, Brighouse Town, Town’s Evo-Stik First Division North rivals Bamber Bridge, and new National League outfit Guiseley.

Three of the games have got fixed dates with the one against the Lions yet to be finalised. The club also expect to announce a pro club coming to the Angel Telecom Stadium for a further warm-up fixture.

Silsden joint-manager Danny Bolton said: “I’ve had a word with my old pal Chris Reape at Thackley and we’ve sorted that one and I know Mark Bower really well and I spoke to him after they won promotion last Saturday.

“He has agreed to a pre-season game but obviously there is a lot going on right now at their club. It was a brilliant achievement by them, getting into the National League, and they have got other things to sort out before looking at settling a date to come to us in pre-season.”

Bolton feels the awards ceremony might not take place before the players report back for training on Tuesday, June 23.

He added: “We were due to hold it last week but it’s been called off for now. It could be a few weeks away because with holidays and a stag do that could drag a lot of the squad away it’s going to be difficult to get them all together at the same time.

“Ryan (Haigh joint manager) and myself are speaking to players at the moment trying to formulate our squad for the new season. We’re also hoping to have good news soon about the pre-season friendly fixtures.”
