Keighley Albion u-14s 46 Featherstone Lions u-14s 10

ETHAN Lawrie, Joel Waddington, Max Hutchinson and Harry Lewis grabbed a brace of tries in Albion's comprehensive win.

Lawrie opened the scoring, timing his run perfectly to take a short ball off Kobe O’Brien, before Hutchinson got their second try after good play from Freddy Seavers and O’Brien.

Albion then worked the ball to the right for Hutchinson to turn provider for right centre Lewis.

Featherstone got a converted try but with Lawrie and James Whitcombe adding a conversion, Albion were 16-6 ahead at half-time.

In the second period, they put on a great display of open, flowing rugby.

Lewis added his second, going half the length of the field before Joel Waddington finished off a move that was set up by the industrious Jack Croft.

Croft was involved again as he sent O’Brien clear up the left, kicking ahead before being tackled late, which led to a scuffle.

However, the referee followed play as the chasing Waddington picked up the ball and touched down, with all the Lions involved in the scrap.

Albion’s forwards were excellent and, with Whitcombe, Lawrie and Croft dominant, they remained on the front foot as Hutchinson, Lawrie and Jake Moran completed Albion’s try count.

Huddersfield St Joseph’s Sharks u-13s 12 Keighley Albion u-13s 34

In a match played on the former Fartown ground of Huddersfield RLFC, Albion put one of this season’s favoured sides to the sword in a comprehensive victory.

Taking Huddersfield completely by surprise, they deservedly led 14-6 at the interval with tries from Charlie Heath and Harry Webster (2). However, protecting an unbeaten home run going back over two years, the home side reduced the lead to just two points shortly after and the game could have gone either way.

It was then that Albion ‘went again and blew them away’ in the words of the Sharks’ coach, with further tries by Xander McConville, Ben Shaw, Alex Downes with an interception and Harry Webster, who completed his hat-trick for the second successive week.

Heath (2), Edward Croft and Nathan Dickinson were the match award winners, while Heath also kicked three conversions as he tries to make the job his own.

Dewsbury Celtic u-10s 60 Cowling Harlequins u-10s 56

Cowling were down on numbers but not on spirit as they came out firing to lead 12-6 with tries from Demi Lea Craig and Ali Muhammed. The Celts hit back but Lewis and Dylan Carter produced great defence.

In the second half both the Carter brothers got on the scoreboard as did player of the match Craig and Muhammed, while a great solo effort came from Shak Templeton. Cowling were in the driving seat but lack of numbers took its toll as they ran out of steam and Celtic scored on the very last play to stop Quins getting their second win of the season. Lewis Carter was the most improved.

Cowling's first win of the season came in some style, with an outstanding display from player of the match William Hanicouk and five tries from Shak Templeton.

Reegan Rushworth and Dennon Lea Carter scored good tries to also help Quins into a commanding half-time lead. Lewis Jones went close and Templeton and Hanicouk went in at the corner.
