SAMIR Tahraoui was delighted with his Cougars debut but is expecting a far tougher outing at home to Rochdale this weekend.

The towering Bradford Bulls prop has joined Paul March’s men on a one-month loan and marked his debut with a fine display in last Sunday’s 66-6 win over his former club South Wales Scorpions.

Tahraoui created the final try for Paul Handforth and is aiming to use the stint at Cougar Park to persuade Jimmy Lowes he is worthy of a recall to the Bradford side.

Tahraoui has not featured for the Bulls since the Easter Monday win at Dewsbury, although a significant part of his time on the sidelines has been injury-enforced.

He said: “I had not played for eight weeks and it felt good to be back out there.

“It was a good stepping stone for this weekend and I could have possibly scored in the corner myself, but Paul Handforth was running down the middle so I thought I’d put him over.

“I’m looking forward to this week because Rochdale will be a much tougher contest and I guess we will see where we are at.

“I train with Bradford throughout the week and I train with Keighley a couple of nights a week, but my overriding goal is to get back into the Bulls’ team.”

Fellow Bulls loanee Adam Brook – who today confirmed he would remain on loan at Cougars for the rest of the season – has scored three tries in two games at Keighley.

Tahraoui said: “It’s always good to have a familiar face when you join a new team.

“Brooky put me through some gaps last Sunday and is clearly a very good player.”

Bulls boss Lowes has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal and a number of his squad have been sent out on loan.

Tahraoui said: “I signed for Bradford and I want to play for them and impress the coach.

“It was just unfortunate I made a few defensive errors in that Dewsbury game.

“One of them led to a try and, for Jimmy, defence is key so if you mess up in that area then it doesn’t bode well at all.

“I know where my faults lie and I’m working on them each week just to try and perfect them.

“I’ve just got to knuckle down in training, play well for Keighley and hopefully Jimmy will take note and get me back in as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, Cougars club captain James Feather is urging fans to support a 24-hour Golf Day to raise funds for Danny Jones’ family.

The event will take place at Branshaw Golf Club on June 25/June 26 and all proceeds will go to Lizzie Jones and twins Phoebe and Bobby.
