KEIGHLEY'S international taekwondo star Leah Moorby has been selected again to represent Great Britain.

She is included for the 2015 Junior European Championships in Latvia this October. It will be the third time the teenager has represented her country following her medal-winning performances in the 2013 Cadet European Championships in Bucharest and the Junior World Championships last year in Taiwan, where she was the youngest member of the Great Britain team.

Since moving to train with former multiple British champion Kathy Hook, on the advice of her former coach Lisa Winteridge, the Oakbank student has never looked back.

She is the reigning British and Commonwealth champion and has been unbeaten domestically since September 2012. She has won international medals in Holland, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Croatia, Ireland, Romania and Taiwan since her move to Doncaster-based Team Ultimate, where Hook is head coach.

Leah said: "I am so happy to have been selected again. It's a great honour and I will be working hard to ensure I perform to the best I can.

"I would like to thank my coach Kathy, my strength coach Paul Royston and all the other coaches, family and sponsors that have helped me get to the stage I am at. Without their support it would not be possible."

Hook believes her student can go all the way in Latvia. She said: "I am very pleased with Leah's selection. With continued hard training and the right preparation, I am confident she can add to last year's world bronze medal with a European title."

Leah's dad Gary added: "Leah has worked very hard to be selected. She is a very focused youngster who knows what she has to do to continue her progress. The European Championships have been her target for this year. Hopefully her experience at last year's worlds will stand her in good stead. Once again we would like to thank everyone who supports Leah."
