KEIGHLEY Minors held their annual awards evening at Oxenhope at the end of a successful season.

The under-17s reached the final of the West Riding County FA Minor Cup for the second year running and although they were defeated by Leeds, it has been another positive campaign.

Manager Charlie Wysocki said: “We have been delighted with the attitude and commitment of all the players this season and they have been a credit to the whole town.

"As a management team we think this year’s crop of players have been the best that we have coached. It is always our aim to improve on the previous year and they certainly have."

A match was held against a select Oxenhope XI before the presentation.

Wysocki said: “We thought it was fitting, due to the success Oxenhope had as a club this year, to arrange our end of season game against them and thank Paul Scott and Ray Broadbent for all their efforts in arranging the game and venue afterwards.”

Lewis Hopkinson was a double winner in the prize presentation. He scooped the Jimmy Murray player of the season trophy and also the Trevor Hockey Memorial Trophy as voted for by the players.

Captain Tom Baker won the Keighley & District FA sportsman of the year award, while the team management's player of the year went to Owen Williamson.
